About the Book
The Color of Sunshine is based on my 30-year career as a clairvoyant teacher, reader and healer. Sometimes I call it my grand 30-year research and dissertation project. My clairvoyant reading and healing development practice was and is called A School for Self & Energy Awareness LLC.
Living my life as an openly psychic person allowed me to realize my dream. I am lucky enough to live in a society that socially and legally allows psychic businesses. I was also fortunate enough to find a landlord that kept me in my storefront rental property even as rents were escalating in Portland. Additionally, I found a great accountant who always praised how I did my bookkeeping, by pencil in a giant ledger. If doing the taxes for A School for Self & Energy Awareness LLC ever bothered her, she never let it show. It is harder than you think to find professionals to support you and your business when you are openly psychic, so I am very grateful for Chuck and Lynn and will always owe them a debt of gratitude. Also, just as promising, I never experienced any vandalism or violence directed towards my business. I credit myself and my strong psychic protection for this and to the fact that I live in a tolerant city.
In our society we don’t particularly respect teachers and we really don’t respect psychics, especially women psychics. Some people, mostly men, even devote their adult careers to proving that psychic abilities don’t exist. By their definition, every person who hangs out a psychic shingle must be a charlatan. To that I say a very profound, Geez! Haven’t they every played a game of Pictionary? Everyone knows it is impossible to win without psychic communication. You can’t really guess based on your teammate’s sub par drawing. The clock is ticking! You have to guess based on the psychic word or picture they project while they attempt to draw a picture. I once famously and gloriously won a game of Pictionary with the correct answer, monsoon, and it wasn’t because my partner could draw anything close to a representation of a monsoon. And, I might add, I guessed the correct answer before she even started drawing. Yes, you want to have me on your Pictionary team.
I have never crossed paths with a devoted skeptic, but everyone is a skeptic on some level. It was a constant particle in my practice that I learned how to protect myself from and not take personally.
One of the reasons I decided to retire is because I had grown into middle age and the constant trepidation that people felt about getting a reading and healing (what if I’m taking advantage of them?) grew monotonous. With age I realized more and more how valuable my information was. I realized not just that I was fortunate to be doing what I loved for a living, but that people who came to see me and learn from me, were also fortunate. Also, I realized over the years, just what a responsibility it was for me to share my unique vision. Like all jobs that come with heavy responsibility, I began to look forward to retirement where I could share my information in books and not in person.
Retiring to write took some getting used to after living openly psychic for so many years, but I am now thoroughly enjoying the anonymity it brings. I love joining the ranks of society where shrugging my shoulders and saying, “I don’t know,” is an acceptable answer. And I like how healing comes now in the form of things like going to the store for my neighbor who is sick to buy soup and crackers. Or, by showing a visiting, bored, homesick grandmother who came to Portland to help with her newborn grandson, where the nearest park is.
Over the course of 30 years of teaching classes and providing readings I took mental notes. The information in this book is the information that morphed and changed as I grew wiser. It is most certainly not just a conglomeration of information that was once recited to me. Everything in the book is coming from my brain, my good judgment. And, the information was tested in my grand experiment and has stood the test of time.
For all the years I spent perfecting my craft and gathering new information, you should be thankful. You are about to read a book that does not bend to the metaphysical status quo. I did not look for anyone’s approval in writing it and I did not water it down so that people would feel comfortable. This book has my own special understanding that can only come from being psychically talented, putting the time into a 30-year project and caring enough to put it in a book.
I started the book (and its companion book) when I was 39 years old and finished the week before I turned 55. This book is the reason I bought my first computer. I figured a computer was a massive improvement over the second hand, manual typewriter I used throughout college. Where did white out and erasable typing paper go anyway?
I hope you enjoy this book and that it is evident that every fiber of my being was dedicated to putting my knowledge into writing.
Although I have more information to share than could possibly be put into this book and its companion book, I never excluded anything because I was afraid to share it. I am not only psychic, I am brave and I am persistent. I never wanted to write fluff. I wanted to leave a legacy.
Reviews
*****As the blurb on the back of the book says, The Color of Sunshine truly is revolutionary.
The book is grounded in universal truths and based on living a life filled with morals and ethics. Each time I picked up the book and began to read I instantly became calmer. I also practiced the techniques as I was reading and will continue to incorporate the many techniques into my daily meditation practice. If you feel like you have been searching for something your whole life, this book contains answers to questions you may not even have known to ask. It is a unique and invaluable reference tool. I feel very grateful for its existence. Bailey S.
*****Erin's book covers many interesting topics including energy healing, psychic development and chakras, to name a few. The information on psychic protection was new to me and is now very useful in my everyday life. Energetic self-protection is a skill that must be learned for you to hold on to your personal energy boundary and to keep you safe from those who intend to control you or to bring you harm.
I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a straight-forward, easy to understand guide to metaphysical healing and psychic development.

*****I am grateful to the author for The Color of Sunshine. It is the perfect read for me now, when so much does not make sense in the world around me. The author’s direct, crystal clear discussion of the invisible energies all around us — and how to make use of the good and protect myself from the bad — is both calming and energizing. I read it once through, and am already now reading it again. I recommend it to those already familiar with metaphysical realms, and to newcomers too. The Color of Sunshine offers important insights for any reader. Sara B.
*****I have read this book twice already! There is such good information in it, it is hard to take it all in and hard to put down at the same time. I loved learning so much more about chakras and what they mean in terms of my personal life and what it means in the bigger universe. The techniques for meditating and running your energy were so helpful, very thought out and easy to follow! What struck me as different in this book is that it didn't have the typical "airy fairy" metaphysical dogma thrown at you. It felt truthful, basically if you want to change your life it takes work, not just a flick of wand and this book provides you with techniques to help you along the way. After following the meditation steps for several weeks I feel like I have brought more of my subconscious to the conscious level. I feel like I have gained more personal power from reading this and practicing the techniques. I also feel like this book delves beyond the present day practice of mindfulness. It is not just a book for technique, it is a great read as well!! The author also tells her own story and her own journey through her life so it also has a very unique perspective. You will not be disappointed!! Maggie M.
